The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita "alls met in
regular session on the above date with the following members present:
Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor,
E. H. Eddleman, X
J. 11. Spoonts, X
C. E. McCutchen, X Aldernen,
J. N. Prothro, X
R. 0. Harvey, Z
G. D. Fairtrace, City Manager,
T. E. McBroom, City Clerk.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The public hearing with reference to the application of
Ralph Hines for a permit to construct a gasoline filling station
was called, and, after hearing no protests, the following motion was
put in order:

Moved by Alderman L:cCutchen that Ralph Hines be granted a
permit to construct and operate a gasoline filling station on the
Northeast corner of Seventeenth and Lamar Streets.
Motion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried.
Moved by Alderman Eddleman that Harvey Harris be appointed
as a member of the Board of Managers of the Wichita General Fospital
to fill out the unexpired term cf H. I. Hunter, who resigned on
June 12th, 1930.
Motion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried.
A committee of citizens residing in the vicinity of the
600 block on Holliday Street appeared before the Council protesting
against the construction of additional buildings on the property
occupied by the city barns and machine shop.
The protests were given consideration butAaction taken.
C. H. Clark appeared before the Council requesting that
the City take some action toward constructing a low water dam at
the head of Lake ';ichita and a canal around the North side for di-
verting hard water around the lake in order to conserve the present
supply of soft water.
The matter was given careful consideration but no definite
action taken.
