Min 04/21/1930'7'78 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building April 21, 1930 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., ?'ayor J. Y'.. Spoonts, j R. 0. Harvey, X E. H. Eddleman, Y Aldermen J. N. Prothro, X C. E. VcCut chen , X G. D. Fairtrace, City Yanager W. E. T'cBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Lartin, City Attorney The I'.inutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The hearing with reference to granting permits to R. G. Gulbranson and Jno. W. Hampton was called and after hearing no pro- tests on either application, the following motions were put in order: l'oved by Alderman Spoonts that a permit be granted to R. G. Gulrranson for the erection of a gasoline filling station on the Southeast corner of Seventh and Austin Streets. Y-tion seconded by alderman Eddleman and carried. I.'.oved by Alderman Spoonts that Jno. W. Hampton be granted a permit to erect a gasoline filling station on the Northwest corner of Tenth and Fillmore Streets. A'otion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. Dr. A. F . Leach and a committee of physicians representing the Wichita County Medical Society appeared before the Board request- ing that the practice of using fumigation candles for the k;lling of germs after quarantines have been lifted be discontinued by the City Health Department and that laboratory facilities be provided for testing of diphtheria cultures. After a thorough discussion of the matter, the following motion was put in order: I'oved by Alderman McCutchen that the City Manager be in- structed to communicate with Dr. I,:. H. (,lover for the purpose of ascertaining the cost of laboratcry service as recommended by the delegation from the ', ichita County Y.edical Society. Motion seconded by Alderman Harvey and carried. 779 1!9 A committe for the County Club Estates, headed by Harry I ines, appeared before the Council requesting that the City bear one-half of the cost of special police protection for that territory. Ioved by Alderman Harvey that the matter be referred to t"e City Manager for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not the city finances will permit the expense of paying one-half of the special police- man's services in the County Club Estates. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. I,:oved by Alderman McCutchen that the petition requesting an ele- ction for the purpose of voting on the question of whether or not the charter be amended to eliminate the City Manager form of government filed by Jack Ballard containing approximately 307 signors, be received and filed, and the City Clerk be instructed to check the names against the poll tax lists and ascertain how many of the signors are qualified voters.
