E. YcCut then, Z J. W. Hunt, X J. I.% Spoonts, Y Aldermen, J. T?. Patton, X R. 0. Harvey, X G. D. Fairtrace, city Tanager, 7:. E. McBroom, City ('lerk, Thelbert Lartin, City Attorney. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that Alderman hunt be appointed Mayor Protem to preside until Mayor Elect Telter nelson, Jr., has qualified. i'ot ion seconded by Alderman McCutchen and carried. The L.inutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The public hearing with reference to the epplication of R. C. Ligon for a permit to construct and overate a grocery store at 1004 Fifth Street was called, and, after hearing no protests, tte following motion was put in order: Yoved by Alderman I'cCut ch en that R. C. Ligon be granted a permit to construct and operate a grocery store at 1004 Fifth : treet. 2'otion seconded by Alterman Patton and carried. The returns of the general municipal election held on April 1st were opened and canvassed. r'.oved by Alderman YcCutcYen that the following resolution be adopted. Potion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried by the fol- lowing vote: Yeas: Aldermen I4cCutchen, Spoonts, Harvey and Patton. Nays : "one. RESO LUTI ON WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls; Texas, held at the regular meeting place in the Memorial Auditorium Building it said City, on the 7th day of April 1930, at which a quorum was present, came on to be considered the returns of the city election held on April 1st, 1930, for the purpose of electing a Yayor and two Aldermen for the City of Wichita Falls, and WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said election, it was found that it was duly and legally held in all respects, and that there were cast at said election 3046 votes, and that For Mayor Water Nelson, Jr, received .1833 votes P. B. Curd received. .1051 IT 0. B. Kelley received. . . . . . . . 160 IT B. A. S"tayton received . . . . . . . 1 IT J. T. Harrell received . . . . . . . 1 " For Aldermen Position Number Four (4) E. H. Corlett received . . . . . .- 1190 IT And it appearing that Walter Nelson, Jr, received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Mayor, that E. H. Eddleman re- ceived the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Position Number Four (4), and that J. N. Prothro received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Position Number Five (5), THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF AIDERPI_EU OF T1=E CITY OI ,'IC_IITA FAILS, TEXAS, in regular session assembled that Walter Nelson, Tr, was duly and legally elected Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, and that E. H. Eddleman and J. N. Prothro were duly and legally elected Aldermen of the City Qf ichita Falls, at said election and that said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the State d Texas and the Charter and Ordinances of said City. PASSED AIZ APPROVED this the 7th day of April, 1930. The oath of office was administered to the newly elected Yayor and Aldermen by Layor Protem Hunt and they took the places of the retiring officials at the Council Table. The retiring Aldermen made statementsexpressirrg their appreciatic of the privilege of serving the City as members of the Board of Ald en and also expressed their appreciation of the courtesy extended m by the other members of the Board. .. m� 72 Roved by Alderman licCutchen that the revised plat of the Rogers, Kelly, Lyle Subdivision be referred to the City Manager for checking, and, if it meets with his approval, the City Clerk be authorized to certify the approval of the Board of Aldermen on said plat in order that it may be filed for record in the County Clerk's off ce . :.otion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried. I oved by Ald erman IJ.CCutchen that the applicati on of C. C. Lindley for a permit to place a pop corn stand on the curb at the corner of Ninth and Brook Streets be received and action be de- ferred until Monday April 14th. 14otion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried. Yoved by Alderman Spoonts that the following resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Alderman Harvey and carried by the fol- lowing vote: Yeas: Aldermen Spoonts, Harvey, YcCutchen, Eddleman & Prothro. Nays: None . RESOLUTTON 1,'HEREJ,Jn -ohn T. Hunt and J. H. Patton are retiring at this time from Public Service due to their terms 'aving expired and that they did not seek reelection.
