Min 12/28/1931logo Wichita Falls, Texas I,Iemori al Auditorium Building December 28, 1931 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor C. E. McCutchen, I J. N. Prothro, X Aldermen J. M. Spoonts, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that the matter of repairing boiler at the Wichita General Hospital be referred to the City Manager with authority to act. Motion seconded by Alderman McCutchen and carried. Plans and specifications for the building permit applied for by R. L. Ward for a grocery store at 1305 Eleventh Street were pre- sented, and after due consideration it was announced by the Mayor that unless first class brick structure was erected the permit would be refused. The specifications called for stucco over wood. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that the following resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Alderman McCutchen and carried by the fol- lowing vote: Yeas: Aldermen Spoonts, McCutchen, and Prothro. Nays: None. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Captain E. H. Eddleman has tendered his resignation as a member of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and such resignation has been accepted for the reason that he has removed from the City of Wichita Falls to the City of Ft. Worth; and, WHEREAS, Captain Eddleman, during his long residence in the City of Wichita Falls, has been active in civic affairs and has been an untiring worker for said city and its interest and has unselfishly served with great ability on various boards. committees, and with organizations, working for the interest of our city; and, WHEREAS, he has served loyally and with distinction as a member of the Board of Aldermen of this city for a period of nearly two (2) years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE B0:'T?D OF ALDERMEN OF TTiE CITY OF ti'TICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That we express to Captain Eddleman our appre- ciation of the work he has done for the City of Wichita Falls and on behalf of the city thank him for such patriotic services. SECTION 2. That we extend to Captain Eddleman our best wishes for his success in his new work, and comend him to his new neighbors and associates. SECTION 3. That the original of this resolution be delivered to Captain Eddleman; that a copy thereof be spread upon the minutes of the Board of Aldermen, and that a copy be furnished to the press. PASSED AND APPROVED, this 28th day of December, A. D. 1931. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that the following resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried by the fol- lowing vote: Yeas: Aldermen Spoonts, Prothro, and McCutchen. Nays: None. RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on the 27th day of July, A. D. 1931, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls passed a resolution directing and instructing the City Manager to notify the owners of gasoline pumps of the said city to remove same from the sidewalks and streets on or be- fore the 1st day of January, A. D. 1932, and did in said resolution direct and instruct the City Attorney to take necessary action to have said gasoline pumps removed from the sidewalks and streets if such owners failed and refused to remove same on or before the above mentioned date: and WHEREAS, because of depressed financial conditions, the re- moval of said pumps at said time will cause a great financial expense not only to the owners of said pumps but also to the owners of real estate and will cause a great number of buildings in the business district of the city to become vacant; and WHEREAS, it is to the best interest of the city that the en- forcement of such resolution be postponed for a period of six (6) months, dating from January 1, 1932. r NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDIRVEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager and the City Attorney be and they are hereby instructed to take no action to enforce the said resolution passed on the 27th day of July, A. Moved by Alderman McCutchen that Ordinance No. 1083 be passed on its third and final reading and be adopted as read. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried by the fol- lowing vote: Yeas: Aldermen McCutchen, Prothro, and Spoonts, Nays: None. ORDINANCE NO.1084 AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE WICHITA FALLS TRACTION C0191ANY THE RIGHT TO CHARGE ALL PASSENGERS (EXCEPT SCHOOL CHILDREN) A FARE OF TEN (100) CENTS ON ITS ELECTRIC STREET RAILWAY LINES AND BUSES FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) MONTHS FROM THE FINAL PASSAGE THEREOF AND THERE- AFTER UNTIL AND UNLESS THIS ORDINANCE BE SOONER REPEALED. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that Ordinance No. 1084 be passed on its first reading. Motion seconded by Alderman McCutchen and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Spoonts, McCutchen, and Prothro. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman McCutchen that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
