Min 07/06/193195,1�, Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building July 6, 1931 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor J. N. Prothro, R. 0. Harvey, X C. E. McCutchen, Aldermen J. M. Spoonts, E. H. Eddleman, Y W. E. McBroom, Acting City Manager E. W. Irvine, Acting City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. An application was received from Albert Phelps for permission to move a Miniature Golf Course from 813-815 Scott Street to a location on Brook Avenue between Speedway and Ardath Streets, described as fol- lows: "Beginning at a point 40 ft. East of the North- west corner of the plot of ground heretofore leased to Joe Fry; thence East 135 ft; thence North 175 ft; thence West 135 ft; thence South 175 ft. to the point of beginning" The above property is 104 ft. away from the residence property line. After hearing no protests, the following motion was put in order: Moved by Alderman Eddleman that Acting City Manager W. E. McBroom be authorized to grant a permit to Albert Phelps to move a Miniature Golf Course from Scott Avenue to Brook Avenue, provided it will not interfere with traffic. Motion seconded by Alderman McCutchen and carried. Fred L. Cone appeared before the Council requesting that taxes be remitted on the building located on Lot 8, Block 144, Original Townsite - said lot being owned by D. C. Allison of Carthage, Texas. After due consideration, Acting City Manager I;:cBroom was instructed to irro estigate and report at the next meeting of the Council. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that Acting City Manager McBroom make further inquiry into the character of H. Rollins who made appli- cation for domino parlor license under the name of the American Domino Parlor to be located at 700* Tenth Street, and if found satisfactory that he grant permit for same. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. Moved by Aldermen Eddleman that the bond of Robt. K. French, City Treasurer, be approved for $5,000.00. Motion seconded by Alderman Harvey and carried. Moved by Alderman McCutchen that Verner R. Smitham, City Yanager of Big Spring, Texas, be appointed City � of t e City of Wichita Falls, at a salary of $7,500.00 per year,A ective u st 1, 1931, or earlier, if possiblejMr.Smitham to furnish his own car and car expense, Motion seconded by Alderman Spoonts and carried. Moved by Alderman McCutchen that Thelbert Martin be granted a leave of absence.of three days during the coming week. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. Moved by Alderman Spoonts that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned. READ AND APPROVED this the 13th day of July 1931.
