Min 07/17/1933121t-. 6 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building July 17, 1933 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor J. N. Prothro, Y Leon L. Deaton, X J. S. Bridwell, X Aldermen George D. Fox, Z Raymond M. Myers, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and app roved. The public hearing with reference to the application of J. C. Chenault for a permit to establish a riding academy on Lot 1, Block 3, Curlee Addition, was called and after hearing protests of numerous citizens in the form of a petition signed by twenty one property owners and residents in the vicinity of the proposed location the following motion was put in order: Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the City do not grant a permit to J. C. Chenault for a riding academy on Lot 1, Block 3, Curlee Addition. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. ORDINANCE N0.1132 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 445, PASSED AND APPROVED ON JULY ^, 1923, ENrI'1LED -AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR RULES, REGULATIONS, AND RATES AND FOR THE OPERATION AND MANAGE- MENT OF THE WATER DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY," BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 1A, SO AS TO ESTABLISH EQUITABLE WATER RATES TO BE CHARGED FOR WATER FURNISHED TO PERSONS, FIRMS, AND CORPORATIONS WHO RESIDE BEYOND THE CITY 1IMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS OR HAVE AND MAINTAIN PLACES OF BUSINESS OUTSIDE THE, CITY LIMITS OF SAID CITY, ADD, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. 1239 Moved by Alderman Bridwell that Ordinance No. 1132 be passed on its first reading. ing vote: Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried by the follow - Yeas: Aldermen Bridwell, Prothro, Myers, Deaton, and Fox. ORD19AME NO.1133 AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING RATES TO BE CHARGED PERSONS, FIRMS, AND CORPORATIONS RESIDING BEYOND THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS OR MAINTAINING AND OPERATING PLACES OF BUSINESS OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS OF SAID CITY AND USING THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM OF SUCH CITY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. RESOLUTION CHANGING AND FIXING PRICES TO BE CHARGED FOR ALL UNSOLD LOTS IN BLOCKS B AND C OF THE RIVERSIDE CEMETERY BELONGING TO THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS. . WHEREAS, THE PRICES FIXED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN BY RESOLUTION, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 20TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, A. D. 1928, IS AT THIS TIME CONSIDERED TOO LOW AND OUT OF PROPORTION TO THE PRICES ON OTHER LOTS. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the prices'set forth upon the attached list for the lots situated in Blocks B and C of the Riverside Ceme- tery, which are at this time unsold and belonging to the City of Wichita Falls, be and the same are hereby fixed and established as the prices to be hereafter charged for such lots. SECTION 2. That the sale of such lots be made, as pro- vided by Resolution passed and approved on the 20th day of February, A. D. 1928. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 17th day of July, A.D. 1933. Moved by Alderman Myers that the City Manager be author- ized to renew one half of the amount due the Elgin Sweeper Company in the form of a note amounting to $2,837.50; the new note to be in the amount of $1,418.75 and be due on June 18, 1934, with interest at 5% per annum. Motion seconded by Alderman Bridwell and carried. 124i Moved by Alderman Myers that inasmuch as C. S. Carlisle, a police motorcycle officer, was killed in line of duty on or about June 17, 1933, the sum of $250.00 be appropriated for burial expense of said officer. Motion seconded by Alderman Bridwell and carried. Moved by Alderman Prothro that the Mayor, City Manager, and Alderman Myers be appointed as a Committee to draft a Resolution of Respect in memory of John Boswell, Femser Manager of the Chamber of Com- merce, who died on July 14. Motion seconded by Alderman Bridwell and carried. Moved by Alderman Deaton that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Myers and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
