The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met
in regular session on the above date with the following members
present:
Walter Tielsoa, Jr., Mayor
Raymond M. Myers,

George D. Fox, X
V. R. Smitham, City Manager
W. E. McBroom, City Clerk

The L._inutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.
Dr. Everett Jones, President of the Chamber of Commerce,.
appeared before the Council requesting that the City make improve-
ments to the water supply, using Federal aid funds to finance the
improvements. The improvements proposed by Dr. Jones were
diversion ditch around the north side of Lake Wichita to divert
hard water drainage, a conduit from Lake'Wichita to the filtera-
tion plant to replace the present open ditch.
J. W. Coombs, a local citizen, spoke uring that the
water supply be improved to relieve the local unemployment situation.
A. H. Britain urged that the City proceed with its
program of waterworks improvements by making application immed-
iately for Federal funds under the National Recovery Act.
J. H. Patton representing J. C. Chenault filed an
application for a permit for the operation of a riding academy
on Lot 1, Block 3, W. S. Curlee Addition, being a tract of land
lying south of the Wichita Falls & Southern Railway tracks and
west of Brook Avenue.
Moved by Alderman Prothro that the application be re-
ceived and the City Clerk be instructed to give notice by publi-
cation of a public hearing to be held with reference thereto at
7:30 P. M. July 17, 1933.
Motion seconded by Alderman Fox and carried.

Moved by Alderman Fox that the Mayor appoint a member of the
City Council to work with the City Manager and Chamber of Commerce in
connection with proposed waterworks improvement; said committee to re-
port back to the next meeting of the City -Council
Motion seconded by Alderman Bridwell and carried.
Moved by Alderman Deaton that J. N. Prothro be added to the
Waterworks Improvement Committee fray the City Council.

The Board of Aldermen went out of executive session.
Moved by Alderman Fox that the Texas Electric Service Company
be offered a counter proposition with reference to the reduction of
light and power rates; the said reduction to be an annual saving of
$65,000.00 to the light and power users of Wichita Falls; the Federal
Tax added by the Government on September 1, 1933, to not be considered
in this reduction.
Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried.
Moved by Alderman Deaton that the meeting be adjourned
subject to call of the Mayor.
Motion seconded by Alderman Myers and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
