Min 05/29/19331220 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building May 29, 1933 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor J. N. Prothro, Z Raymond M. Myers, X Leon L. Deaton, X Aldermen J. S. Bridwell, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney , The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The public hearing with reference to the appropriation ordinance continued from May 22 was called and J. L. Jackson, Jr., Chairman of the Taxation Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, and on behalf of the Real Estate Board presented a report requesting certain cuts in the proposed budget. J. C. Mytinger, N. H. Martin, and Luther Hoffman spoke in behalf of the report. C. B. King, a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Gerald Coffey, Presi- dent of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, urged that if the budget be cut that it be not reduced to the extent of eliminating any essential services. Mr. Coffey also recommended that any reduction made be taken from the tax rate instead of reducing taxable values on real estate. The Council took the report and recommendations of the organizations represented under advisement. ORDINANCE NO 1127 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL LICENSED RECORDING FIRE, LIGHTNING, TORNADO, WINDSTORM, AND HAIL INSURANCE AGENTS IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TO KEEP A RECORD SHOWING PREMIUMS WRITTEN AND LOSSES PAID EACH CALENDAR YEAR AND TO MAKE A REPORT OF SAME TO THE CITY CLERK ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 15 EACH YEAR; REQUIRING THE OWNERS OF ALL PROPERTY,, REAL, PERSONAL, OR MIXED, WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, THEIR AGENT OR AGENTS, TO MAKE SIMILAR REPORTS ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 15 OF EACH AND EVERY YEAR TO THE CITY CLERK, GIVING THE AMOUNT OF PREMIUMS PAID FOR FIRE, LIGHTNING, TORNADO, WINDSTORM, AND HAIL INSURANCE UPON? SUCH PROPERTY WHERE THE PREMIUMS ARE NOT PAID TO A LOCAL AGENT OR AGENTS RESIDING IN WICHITA FALLS, AND PRESCRIBING A PENA=. ORDINANCE NO 1128 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 28 OF ORDINANCE NO. 511, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION, MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, AND REMOVAL OF BUILDINGS WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS," PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 19TH DAY OF MAY, A. D. 1924, BY ADDING THERETO A PARAGRAPH ALLOWING THE ERECTION OF BRICK BUILDINGS WITH EIGHT INCH WALLS M DER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AND DECLARING AN RTRGENCY. i Moved by Alderman Prothro that Ordinance No. 1128 be passed on its second reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Prothro,, Deaton, Myers, and Bridwell. Nays: None. ORDINANCE NO 1129 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PERSONS FROM GOING UPON, TRESPASSING AND FISHING AT THE WATER PLANT, SETTLING BASIN AND RESERVOIR AND THE GROUND AND LAND ADJACENT THERETO OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY THE CITY OF W ICHITA FALLS WATER DEPARTMENT AND BEING BOUNDED ON THE WEST AND NORTH BY BUR7ETT STREET AND FERN AVENUE, ON THE SOUTH BY UNDERWOOD STREET, AND ON THE EAST BY FLORIDA STREET, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that Ordinance No. 1129 be passed on its second reading. vote Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried by the following Yeas: Aldermen Bridwell, Deaton, Myers, and Prothro. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the meeting be adjourned subject to call of the Mayor. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried.
