Min 05/22/19331216 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building May 22, 1933 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor George D. Fox, J. N. Prothro, Raymond M. Myers, Aldermen Leon L. Deaton, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney approved. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and Moved by Alderman Myers that the Board of Aldermen authorize the Mayor to sign the following recommendation of the North Texas Coach Company for a permit to operate a bus line between Wichita Falls and Jacksboro: TO THE HONORABLE RAILROAD COMMISSION OF TEXAS: We, the undersigned Mayor and Commissioners of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, do hereby recommend the North Texas Coach Company to your Honorable Body for a permit to operate bus service over Highway No. 66 from Wichita Falls to Jacksboro. We have been advised that a number of applications have been filed, and we also know the manager of the North Texas Coach Company, who are operating a line from Wichita Falls to Fort Worth. He is also the manager of the street car and bus lines in [Wichita Falls. We know that this Company is capable and financially able to take care of the public over this new Highway. Therefore, we believe that it is to the interest of all Wichita Falls and the surrounding community that they be given this permit to operate service of the above mentioned line." Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. The public hearing on the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year 1933-34 continued from the last meeting was called, and after hearing a request from the Taxation Committee of the Chamber of Commerce that the hearing be continued, the following motion was put in order: 1217 Moved by Alderman Fox that the hearing on the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year 1933-34 be continued until 7:30 P.M. May 29, 1933. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. ORDINANCE NO 1127 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL LICENSED RECORDING FIRE, LIGHTNING, TORNADO, WINDSTORM, AND HAIL INSURANCE AGENTS IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TO KEEP A RECORD SHOWING PREMIUMS WRITTEN AND LOSSES PAID EACH CALENDAR YEAR AND TO MAKE A REPORT OF SAME TO THE CITY CLERK ON OR BE- FORE JANUARY 15 EACH YEAR; REQUIRING THE OWNERS OF ALL PROPERTY, REAL, PERSONAL, OR MIXED, WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY 0- WIrr'ITA FALLS, THEIR AGENT OR AGENTS, TO MAKE SIMILAR REPORTS ON OR BEFIRE JAN- UARY 15 OF EACH AND EVERY YEAR TO THE CITY CLERK, GIVING THE AMOUNT OF PREMIUMS PAID FOR FIRE, LIGHTNING, TORNADO, WINDSTORM, AND HAIL INSUR- ANCE UPON SUCH PROPERTY WHERE THE PREMIUMS ARE NOT PAID TO A LOCAL AGENT OR AGENTS RESIDING IN WICHITA FALLS, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY. ORDINANCE NO.1128 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 28 OF ORDINANCE.NO. 511, EN- TITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE THE CONSTRUCTION, ALTEPATION, MAINTEN- ANCE, REPAIR, AND REMOVAL OF BUILDINGS WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEMA.S, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS," PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 19TH DAY OF MAY, A. D. 1924, BY ADDING THERETO A PARAGRAPH ALLOWING THE ERECTION OF BRICK BUILDINGS WITH EIGHT INCH WALLS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AND DECLARING AN SAERGENCY. Moved by Alderman Myers that Ordinance No. 1128 be passed on its first reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Myers, Prothro, Fox, and Deaton. Nays: None. ORDINANCE NO.1129 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PERSONS FROM GOING UPON, TRESPASSING AND FISHING AT THE WATER PLANT, SETTLING BASIN, AND RESERVOIR At:D THE GROUND AND LAND ADJACENT THERETO OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS WATER DEPARTMENT AND BEING BOUNDED ON THE WEST AND NORTH BY BURNETT STREET AND FERN AVENUE, ON THE SOUTH BY UNDERWOOD STREET, AND ON THE EAST BY FLORIDA STREET, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY. 1218 Moved by Alderman Myers that Ordinance No. 1129 be passed on its first reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Myers, Deaton, Fog, and Prothro. Nays: None. Moved by Alderman Myers that the meeting be adjourned subject to call of the Mayor. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned subject to call of the Mayor.
