Min 05/08/19331210, Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building May 8, 1933 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: - Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor Raymond M. Myers, I Leon L. Deaton, X George D. Fox, X Aldermen J. S. Bridwell, X J. N. Prothro, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- proved. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the City Manager be in- structed to investigate the application of the Wichita Falls Gospel Mission for a permit to build a temporary tabernacle at 1010 Indiana and grant permit if he finds that there are no objections from adjoining property owners. Motion seconded by Alderman Myers and carried. ORDINANCE NO. 1125 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 496, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 24TH DAY OF MARCH, A. D. 1924, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE FOR THE REGULATION OF PUBLIC DOMINO PARLORS," SO AS TO REQUIRE SUCH PUBLIC DOMINO PARLORS TO CLOSE THEIR DOORS D-RING WEEK DAY NIGHTS FROM 11:50 O'CLOCK P. M. UNTIL 6:00 O'CLOCK A.M. Moved by Alderman Deaton that Ordinance No. 1125 be passed on its second reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Deaton, Prothro, Myers, Fox, and Bridwell. Nays: None. 12-1 Moved by Alderman Myers that M. E. Wallace, Certified Public Accountant, be awarded the contract for auditing the books and records of the City of Wichita Falls and Wichita General Hospital for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1933, on his bid of $535.75 for the City and $46.50 for the Hospital/,the work to be done in accordance with specifications furnished by the City Clerk and approved by the City Manager. Motion seconded by Alderma n Prothro and carried. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the local post of the American Legion be granted permission to bring a carnival to Wichita Falls for one week beginning May 10 provided, however,.that in the future no carnival permits be granted. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Prothro that the City Manager be granted permission to attend the West Texas Chamber of Commerce Convention at Big Spring to be held on May 11, 12 and 13. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Deaton that the appointment by the City Manager of A. M. Miller as City Treasurer to replace Robt. K. French, effective May 9, 1933, be approved, and the Surety Bond in the amount of $2,500.00 covering Robt. K. French be transferred to A. M. Miller. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. Moved by Alderman Myers that the Oil Fraternity be allowed to use the Auditorium without charge on I;lednesday, May 10, for a community meeting. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the City Manager be authorized to negotiate with the School Board for a renewal of the contract for the assessment -and collection of school taxes which expired on March 31, 1933, on a basis of 1ffo of collections but not to exceed actual cost to the City of such assessment and collection. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Myers that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Fox and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
