Min 01/30/19331 164 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building January 30, 1933 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Walter Nelson, Jr., Mayor J. N. Prothro, J. M. Spoonts, X C. E. McCutchen, X Aldermen R. 0. Harvey, Z J. S. Bridwell, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A hearing on the demand of the City Council for lower domestic, commercial, and industrial light and power rates was held. J. B. Thomas, representing the Texas Electric Service Company, spoke at length on the present economic conditions and explained the posi- tion of the electric utilities generally, as well as locally, with reference to rate structures) property valuations, etc. After Mr. Thomas had answered various questions from the Mayor, City Manager, and citizens who attended the hearing, the Mayor informed him that the Council would consider a financial statement showing the result of the operation of the company in Wichita Falls for 1932 when it is completed, which the electric company executive stated would be about March 15, but in the meantime the City would consider other plans for securing lower power and light costs for the citizenship. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
