Min 04/02/1934Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building April 2, 1934 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita ?galls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Leon L. Deaton X George D. Fox, X J. N. Prothro, Z Aldermen J. S. Bridwell, Raymond M. Myers, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney Moved by Alderman Deaton that Alderman Bridwell be appointed Mayor Protein to act during the absence from the city of Mayor Walter Nelson, Jr. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Moved by Alderman Deaton that the application of Evelyn . Bell for a chauffeuris permit be rejected on account of the applicant being under 21 years of age. Motion seconded by Alderman Prothro and carried. Moved by Alderman Prothro that the appointment by Candi- dates J. T. Young, Mack Taylor and Mark Walker of supervisors for the election to be held on April 3 be approved as follows: Central Police Station Box, A. M. Davis; Wichita County Court House Box, Earnest McAbee; Brown & Allen Drug Store Box, Chas. S. Hays; 2214 Holliday Street Box, John A. Mayer; Floral Heights Pharmacy Boa, M. W. Barnett; 2415 Grant Street Box, Kitt Cowan; Buchan Street Fire Station Box, H. L. Ratliff; Evans Pharmacy Box, J. E. Glenn; and House No, 607 North Broadway Box, Geo. H. Tasker, with compensation to be paid by the candidates. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Deaton that the plat of Bowman Farms, a subdivision of 551.94 acres out of the G. W. Childers Survey, Abstract No. 32, Wichita County, Texas, be approved. Motion seconded by Alderman Myers and carried. 1341 Moved by Alderman Myers that the following substitute clerks and Judges be appointed to serve in the election to be held on April 3: Central Police Station, Porter Brandon as Clerk for W. K. Nile. Wichita County Court House, 0. W. Hines as Presiding Judge for E. P. Murrell. Floral Heights Pharmacy, M. L. Tittle as Presiding Judge for E. S. Whitelaw Matalone Vincent as Clerk for M. L. Tittle C. B. Haynie as Clerk for W. G. Bralley Avenue H & Giddings Street Fire Station,-Geo. T. Hunderson as Clerk for Mrs. C. C. McMurray Mrs. G. 0. Howery as Clerk for Mrs. J. T. Ricks 2415 Grant Street, John K. King as Clerk for R. S. Dunaway E. J. McWilliams as clerk for H. L. McGregor A. C. Dulaney extra Clerk Buchanan Street Fire Station, C. G. Phillips -as Clerk for Mrs. Lena Cottrell 607 North Broadway, J. t. Scarborough as Clerk for C. P. Gibbs. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Deaton that the Trades Council be allowed use of the Auditorium for a community meeting to be held April 5, pro- viding that the meeting does not discuss politics and is free from any political influence and is for the sole purpose of educating the public in support of the President's program against the radical element in labor organizations and that the meeting be so advertised. Motion seconded by Alderman Fos and carried. Moved by Alderman Myers that the meeting be recessed subject to call of the Mayor. Motion seconded by Alderman Fox and carried.
