Min 01/29/1934Wichita Falls,Texas Memorial Auditorium Building January 29, 1934 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Psalter Nelson, Jr., Mayor J. S. Bridwell, ] Leon L. Deaton, X J. N. Prothro, X Aldermen George D. Fox, Z Raymond M. Myers, X V. R. Smitham, City Manager W. E. McBroom, City Clerk Thelbert Martin, City Attorney The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the following resolution be adopted. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Bridwell, Deaton, Prothro, Fox, and Myers. Nays: None. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHIA1,, STRAIGHTENING, WIDENING, AND DEDICATING A STREET, PUBLIC WAY, THOROUGHFARE, AND HIGHWAY BEGINNING AT THE INTERSECTION OF FIFTEENTH STREET WITH SCOTT AVENUE IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS AND EXTENDING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION TO THE CITY LIMITS OF SAID CITY TO BE USED AS A STREET AND RIGHT OF WAY FOR STATE HIGHWAY NO. 5. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Wichita Falls, the State of Texas and the government of the United States of America to establish, straighten, widen, and construct a street, public way, thoroughfare, and highway to be used as a right of way for State Highway No. 5, beginning at the intersection of Fifteenth Street with Scott Avenue in the City of Wichita Falls and running in a easterly direction to the city limits of said city; and WHEREAS, the said City of Wichita Falls has acquired the title to the land necessary to the establishment, straightening, widening, and construction of such street, public way, thoroughfare, and highway. NOW, THEREF CR E, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE B OAR D OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: 1315 SECTION 1. That the said street, public way, thoroughfare, and highway be and the same is hereby established, straightened, and widened; the same to occupy and use the following described lands in the City of Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, to -wit: "The property herein dedicated as a City Street is a part of and out of Blocks 31 and 32, Barwise and Jalonic Addi- tion; Block 1, McBrides Addition; Blocks A, B, 120 13, 14 15, 22, 21, 20, and 19, J. A. Kemp Addition; Blocks 10 and 11, Kemp & Newby Subdivision, in the City of Wichita Falls. Said property being a strip of land one hundred (100) feet in width, fifty (50) feet on each side of the center line for three thousand seven hundred thirty+four and seven tenths (3734.7) feet and a strip of land one hundred twenty (120) feet in width, sixty (60) feet on each side of the center line for eight hundred thirty one and six tenths (831.6) feet of the location for State Highway No. 5 as surveyed by the Resident Engineer of the State High- way Department of Texas, and the center line is more particularly described as follows: Beginning at a point in the west line of Block 31, Barwise and. Jalonic Addition, 22.0 feet south of the northwest corner of Block 31, said beginning point being survey Station 124 - 36.7, the right of way being 50.0 feet on each side of the center line; Thence S. 400 18, E. 700.6 feet to a point in the north line of Block A, J. A. Kemp Addition, said point being 268.2 feet west of the northeast corner of Block A; Thence continuing S. 400 18' E. 508.7 feet to a point in the west line of Block 12, J. A. Kemp Addition, said point being 9.7 feet South of the northwest corner of Block 12; Thence continuing S 400 181 E. 288.0 feet to the begin- ning of a 30 curve to the left whose central angle is 490 r; Thence around said 30 curve to'the left 748.6 feet to a point in the east line of Block 14, J. A. Kemp Addition; said point being 0.3 feet north of the southeast corner of Block 14; Thence continuing around said curve 926.0 feet to the end of curve, said point being 10.2 feet east of the center of the west line of Block 20, J. A. Kemp Addition; Thence N. 890 44* E. 399.8 feet along the center of the alley through Block 20 to a point 1n the West line of Block 19 where the right of way changes from 50 feet each side of the center line to 60 feet each side of the center line; Thence continuing N. 890 44' E. 931.6 feet along the center of the alley through Block 19, J. A. Kemp Addition and through Block 10, Kemp & Newby Subdivision to a point where the right of way changes from 60 feet each side of the center line to 50 feet each side of center line; 1-3_Y6 Thence N. 89 44* E. 263.0 feet to a point in the center of Holliday Creek, said point being survey Station 171 f 03 and is the East City Limits line of the City of Wichita Falls. SECTION 2. That said street and highway is hereby dedi- oated to the use of the public and as a right of way for said State Highway No. 5. PASSED AND Approved this 29th day of January, A. D. 1934. Moved by Alderman Bridwell that the City Attorney be in- structed to give ten days final notice before filing suit to a list of twenty four property owners who have been contacted by the City Tax Collector and failed to respond to any proposition of payment of their personal property taxes. Motion seconded by Alderman Deaton and carried. Moved by Alderman Deaton that the meeting be recessed. Motion seconded by Alderman Bridwell and carried. The Board of Aldermen then recessed. READ AND APPROVED this the 5th da of February 1=4. Mayer
