RESOLUTION NO. _38-2012_
Resolution Authorizing The City Manager To Execute All
Documents Necessary To Purchase 90 Computer Workstations
With MsOffice And 20 Monitors From Global Asset Online (HP) Via
The Texas Department Of Information Resources List In The
Amount Of Approximately $76,583.00
WHEREAS, the City’s 2011-12 budget includes funds to replace several
computers that are in excess of five years old and no longer adequate to run the City’s
standard operating systems and applications; and
WHEREAS, bids were received from various State DIR Vendors for the
purchase of these computers; and
WHEREAS, HP computers are used predominately throughout the City
organization; and
WHEREAS, there are several cost advantages of remaining with the hardware
platform that is predominate throughout the organization, and these advantages
significantly outweigh the differences in the cost provided by the low bidder and the bid
received from Global Asset Online, which resells HP Computers; and
WHEREAS, Texas Gov’t Code § 2054.0565(b) provides that “a political
subdivision that purchases an item or service using a contract under this section
satisfies any other law requiring the political subdivision to seek competitive bids for
that item or service”, and the City Council finds this purchase is exempt from
competitive bidding requirements because it is purchased under said section and is
otherwise exempt from competitive bidding pursuant to Texas Local Gov’t Code §
252.022(a)(12).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is authorized to execute all documents necessary to purchase
90 Computer Workstations With MSOffice and 20 Monitors from Global Asset Online
(HP) via the Texas Department of Information Resources list in the amount of
approximately $76,583.00.
