Resolution Authorizing The Purchase Of 306 Mobile Radios, 63
Handheld Radios, And Required Infrastructure And Installation For
UHF Narrowband Two-Way Radio System Through The Texas
Department Of Information Resources State Purchasing Cooperative
From Self Radio In The Amount Of $266,972.39
WHEREAS, Texas Gov’t Code § 2054.0565(b) provides that “a political
subdivision that purchases an item or service using a contract under this section
satisfies any other law requiring the political subdivision to seek competitive bids for
that item or service”, and the City Council finds this purchase is exempt from
competitive bidding requirements because it is purchased under said section and is
otherwise exempt from competitive bidding pursuant to Texas Local Gov’t Code §
252.022(a)(12);
WHEREAS; the FCC has mandated all local government entities update to UHF
two-way radio communications by January 2013, and
WHEREAS: the City Council finds that purchasing a UHF Narrowband two-way
radio system through the Texas Department of Information Resources State Purchasing
Cooperative is in the best interest of the City of Wichita Falls.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
City Staff are authorized to execute all documents necessary to purchase 306
mobile radios, 63 handheld radios, and required infrastructure and installation for UHF
Narrowband Two-Way Radio System through the Texas Department of Information
Resources State Purchasing Cooperative fromSelf Radio in the amount of
$266,972.39.
