Res 018-2020 AIA Achitect Agreement with gak Architect for Convention Banquet Facility
Resolution No. 18-2020
Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an AIA Architect
Agreement with Gerri A. Kielhofner, AIA Architect doing business as
gak Architect to prepare building permit/construction documents for
an approximately 35,930 SF convention/banquet facility located
adjacent to the MPEC Facilities
WHEREAS, as the City of Wichita Falls currently has no full-service hotel or large
convention/banquet facility and it is unable to compete for numerous larger conventions
that require a full-service hotel in the vicinity of the MPEC facilities where such
conventions would be held, thus putting the City at a disadvantage when recruiting
conventions and eroding revenue to MPEC operations, ultimately costing taxpayers
additional money; and,
WHEREAS, on December 10, 2019, the Wichita Falls 4B Sales Tax Corporation
(4BSTC) approved the expenditures for preconstruction cost related to the
conference/banquet portion of the MPEC conference center hotel project; and,
WHEREAS, on December 17, 2019, Wichita Falls City Council approved the 4B
Sales Tax Corporation (4BSTC) budget amendments for the expenditures for
preconstruction cost related to the conference/banquet portion of the MPEC conference
center hotel project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is authorized to execute an AIA Architect Agreement with Gerri
A. Kielhofner, AIA Architect doing business as gak Architect to prepare building
permit/construction documents for an approximately 35,930 SF convention/banquet
facility adjacent to the MPEC Facilities in a form approved by the City Attorney.
