Park Board Minutes - 12/12/2019Wichita Falls Park Board Meeting December 12, 2019 W.F. CALL TO ORDER: John Fritzsch called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes from October 24, 2019 were put before the Board for approval. Marcy Brown Marsden made the motion to approve the minutes and Alan Donaldson seconded the motion. 3. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT: A. PARKS: Terry Points • Mulching, cutting & chipping dead tree's in process now • Sandblasting and painting 3 ornamental fountains around town. • Received CDBG money to purchase playground equipment for Spudder, O'Reilly and Scotland. Edgemere will get a new playground from regular budget. • Planted 15 Live Oak tree's in Lions Park. • Mary Rhodes with Kiwanis' has ideals for remodeling restrooms at Kiwanis' Park • Boardwalk at Lake Wichita is coming along started moving dirt and drilling for pier on December 16. • City returned the grant money back to Texas Parks and Wildlife for boat ramp, will reapply when board walk and other projects are closer to finished. • Jacobie project for Spudder Park cleanup/upgrade has come to a halt at this time. Public Works is replacing sewer along Circle trail by Loop 11 headed west. BNSF was approved for circle trail; constructions should start soon. Rick Wilson was granted contract Lake>Wichita has until May 2020 to complete Boardwalk. B. RECREATION. Scott McGee • Over 140 people attended the 50+Zone Christmas luncheon. • Christmas in the Park for Recreation was a success approximately 500/600 attended. • Basketball and Volleyball leagues going on now. • Basketball played on big court at the MPEC one night while floor was still down. • Weeks Tennis Center had a new central heating and air unit installed. • 2"d Annual Winter Blast Indoor Soccer Tournament being held at MPEC on December 20 & 21st. 4. Other Business, Announcements, Comments • Dr. Margaret Brown Marsden (Marcy) with Midwestern State University and The Texas Stream Team is submitting a EPA Environmental Education Local Grant Program. A request was made for the Park Board to submit a letter in support of the grant, the Park Board voted unanimously to support this project. Jim Heiman approved the EPA project letter and Sandy Fleming seconded the motion. 5. ADJOURNMENT. Meeting was adjourned at 2:30 pm Signature: John itzsch C airperson
