Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute the Convention
Management, LLC
WHEREAS, as the City of Wichita Falls currently has no full-service hotel, it is
unable to compete for numerous larger conventions that require a full-service hotel in the
vicinity of the MPEC facilities where such conventions would be held, thus putting the City
at a disadvantage when recruiting conventions and eroding revenue to MPEC operations,
ultimately costing taxpayers additional money; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has thus determined the City is in need of a full-
service hotel located on the grounds of the MPEC facilities; and,
which is a national hotel/resort
development firm, has expressed interest to develop such a hotel; and,
WHEREAS, Owould be the owner of the
hotel and also oversee the day-to-day operations and management, and would also
manage the City-owned conference center/ballroom space located in the hotel; and,
WHEREAS, in order to proceed with such development, a Convention Center and
Hotel Development Agreement needs to be executed between the City of Wichita Falls
Hospitality Management, LLC.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Convention Center and
Management, LLC, in a form
approved by the City Attorney.
