Ordinance amending Chapter 106, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Wichita Falls at Division 4, Rates and Charges, Section
106-128, Credit card payments; convenience fees, to establish a service
fee in lieu of a convenience fee when paying a utility bill by credit card.
WHEREAS, the current ordinance allowing for the payment of utility bills by credit
card also assesses a convenience fee per transaction via every available method except
that of paying at the Util;
WHEREAS,
provide for accurate terminology for the charging of fees for those payments made by credit
card; and,
WHEREAS, the City intends to also begin to charge this service fee for payments at
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Chapter 106, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby
amended at Division 4, Rates and Charges, Section 106-128, Credit card payments;
convenience fees, so that such section shall hereafter read as follows:
-128. Credit card payments; service fees.
(a) The utility collection division may accept credit cards from Visa, MasterCard,
Discovery and American Express for payments collected by the utility
collection division.
(b) A service fee established by separate ordinance shall be assessed per
transaction to the customer paying by credit card
counter, urse
the city for reasonable expenses incurred to process the transaction.
