1. CALL TO ORDER.
A. John Fritzsch called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.
2. MINUTES.
A. The minutes of January 11, 2018 were put before the Board for approval.
Marcy Brown Marsden made the motion to approve the minutes and
Stephen Garner seconded the motion.
3. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
A. RECREATION:
• Travis Pence Athletics Coordinator: A video presentation was given
about the facilities available. 2 gyms in partnership with WFISD
Jefferson and Scotland. Currently held at these locations are wrestling,
pickle ball, basketball, Spring softball season starting with 72 teams
registered at this time. Putting together 6v6 adult soccer league being
played at the sports complex.
• Kathy Geil Coordinator 50+ Zone: has 81 scheduled programs, 40
fitness. Special events are held once a month. Membership are $30.00 a
month.
• Kim Hames Recreation Coordinator: Recreation has classes open to all
ages. 25 reoccurring classes, art, fitness, dance, taekwondo, wrestling.
B. PARKS:
Prairie dog land at Kiwanis' Park is nearing completion.

Shoshone Park at Lake Arrowhead will possibly be the new home for
some Prairie dogs.
28 years later the Kayak launch pad on the Wichita River in Lucy Park
has been uncovered, and is now open to public
Ralph Stearns is completing the painting on the spillway.
4. PARK IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE:
• Travis Pence presented a proposal for the Lamar Baptist Church
Activity Center. The building is currently vacant and has been offered
to the Recreation Dept. for purchase.
• Location for property is loth/ Harrison St.
• Building is equipped with a full kitchen/concession stand, full weight
room, walking track, two aerobic rooms, basketball court, and office
space.
5. ADJOURNMENT.
A. Meeting was adjourned at 2:30 pm
