Ordinance No. 52-2018
Ordinance amending Chapter 14, Division 3 Impoundment, at
Section 14-369, Facilities Authorized; providing for codification; and
declaring an emergency
WHEREAS, the Health District recommends a revision of Chapter14, Division 3 -
Impoundment, Sec 14-369 to allow for vaccination upon intake; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Wichita Falls desires to protect
animals entering the shelter against vaccine preventable diseases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. Chapter 14, Animals, Division 3 Impoundment, of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Wichita Falls, is hereby amended at Section 14-369, Facilities authorized,
to read as follows:

Division 3 Impoundment
Sec. 14-369. - Facilities authorized.
(a) The city council shall select and establish a suitable animal reclaim center
(ARC) for impounding all animals, fowl, livestock and wildlife by the health district.
(b) The director or his designee is the designated caretaker of every animal as of
the date of intake.
(c) Immediately upon intake the director or his designee, as the designated
caretaker, is authorized to provide each appropriate aged animal with core
immunizations and parasite treatment
2. Codification
The sections of this ordinance that specify they amend or add to the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls are intended to be parts of said Code, and said
sections of this ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such
intention.
3. Emergency
Due to the fact that the subject matter of this ordinance affects the public health,
safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Wichita Falls, this ordinance is declared
to be an emergency measure, and shall become effective immediately upon its
passage.
