1. CALL TO ORDER.
A. John Fritzsch called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m.
2. MINUTES.
A. The minutes of April 26, 2018 were put before the Board for approval.
Marcy Brown Marsden made the motion to approve the minutes and
Jessica Traw seconded the motion.
3. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
A. RECREATION: SCOTT MCGEE
• Spring Sports leagues have been extended due to several rainout
evenings.
• Summer Sports leagues begin registration this week.
• Lucy Park Swimming Pool opens this Saturday with Splash Day. Free
admission for the entire day.
• Summer Day Camps are approximately 75% full at this time.
• With help of the CVB the Sports Complex will host a large Flag
Football Tournament on the first weekend in November with up to
600 players expected to attend.
• North Texas Senior Games were held over the past weekend with a
little over double the entries from last year.

B. PARKS: Terry Points
• Parks crews have planted over 45,000 flowers this spring..
• Considerable graffiti damage done to the Falls. Crews working to clean
up.
• Parks crews are still short of full time and temporary summer workers
which is slowing down the mowing cycle across the city.
• The Lucy Park log Cabin floors are being redone this week.
• Street Department is helping with removing cattails from the shore line
of Lake Wichita.
• Vandals set fire to the bathroom at Lynwood Park.
• 5 bid packets have been received for park maintenance,
4. PARK IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE:
a. The board discussed the bond results and the future of the projects
that failed and created a list of what they felt are the most important
projects for the city to concentrate on.
Tom Lang made a motion to recommend to council the completion of
the original circle trail projects with the section along the BNSF tracks
as the first priority and funding for the three grants already awarded to
the city by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. 2nd by Alan
Donaldson and approved by all members present.
Tom Lang also made a motion to recommend to the city council
excavation of Lake Wichita to make it a viable recreation, fish and
wildlife resource for the city. 2nd by Sandy Fleming and approved by
all members present.
b. Fund raising continues to help with the matching funds for the
grants awarded for Lake Wichita Revitalization projects.
c. Construction of the circle trail from The Bluffs to Loop 11 is behind
schedule with deadline approaching. This year's Circle Trail tour had
good numbers and positive feedback.
