Ord 35-2018 Curfew Renewal 8/7/2018 Ordinance No. 35-2018
Ordinance continuing in effect Sections 78-61 through 78-80 of the
Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances, which provide a Juvenile Curfew,
and providing a penalty of up to $500 upon violation
WHEREAS, Sections 78-61 through 78-80 of the Wichita Falls Code of
Ordinances provide a juvenile curfew ordinance for Wichita Falls; and,
WHEREAS, Local Government Code §370.002 requires that the City Council
review its curfew ordinance before the third anniversary of the date of its adoption, and
every third year thereafter, to determine its effects on the community, then move to
formally abolish, continue, or modify the ordinance;
WHEREAS, on August 18, 2015, the City Council continued the City's juvenile
curfew ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted two public hearings regarding the
merits of the juvenile curfew ordinance and has determined it is in the best interests of
the health, safety and welfare of its citizens to continue this ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
1. Sections 78-61 through 78-80 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances are
hereby continued in full force and effect.
2. Violations of this ordinance shall be punishable by a penalty of up to $500 and
as provided by Section 1-14 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances.
