Resolution Adopting new
Design Guidelines for City of Wichita Falls
as the City’s Design
Historic Landmarks and Historic Districts
Review Guidelines for Historic Preservation
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls, in conjunction with the Landmark
Commission and consultant Hardy-Heck-Moore, Inc. (HHM), through grant contract
TX-10-025 with the Texas Historical Commission (THC), researched, revised and
collaborated with the public to produce an updated policy document providing historic
landmark and historic district design guidelines for the City;
WHEREAS, this project will assist local residents, the Landmark Commission
and City staff by creating a document that can increase community awareness of
appropriate methods to maintain, restore, and rehabilitate City, state and nationally
designated historic resources;
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that there are areas within the City
that are worthy of historic preservation for future generations and concurs with the
contents of the Design Guidelines; and

WHEREAS, the attached
Landmarks and Historic Districts
are intended to supersede the Design Review
Guidelines adopted pursuant to City Council Resolution No. 113-2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Design Guidelines for City of Wichita
1. The City Council hereby adopts the
Falls Historic Landmarks and Historic Districts
, attached hereto and incorporated
herein, as the “Wichita Falls Design Review Guidelines” and “criteria guidelines”
pursuant to Chapter 62, “Historic Preservation,” of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Wichita Falls.
2. The City Manager and Mayor are hereby authorized to execute all documents
necessary to accept the aforementioned Design Guidelines as the final grant project
report and obtain reimbursement for the cost of their preparation, in a form approved by
the City Attorney.
