Park Board Minutes - 01/11/2018Wichita Falls Park Board Meeting January 11, 2018 W.F. Recreation Center 600 11 th Street Room 204 1:30p.m. Presiding: John Fritzsch Members Present: Jim Heiman, Sandy Fleming, Charlie Zamastil, Stephen Garner, Jim Potts, Jessica Traw, Marcy Brown Marsden, Alan Donaldson, Tom Lang Members Absent: Carlye Bindle, Colby Huffman City Council Representative: Absent Other: Scott McGee, Terry Points & Jim Dockery 1. 2. 3. CALL TO ORDER. A. John Fritzsch called the meeting to order at 1:32 p.m. B. Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Jim Potts for his service on the Park Board. MINUTES. A. The minutes of November 30, 2018 were put before the Board for approval. Marcy Brown Marsden made the motion to approve the minutes and Charlie Zamastil seconded the motion. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT: A. RECREATION: New 2018 Spring and Summer Brochure are out in circulation now. 38 different programs are offered though the Recreation Dept. Spring Coaches meeting was held, teams can sign up for Softball, Volleyball and Kickball at this time B. PARKS: • Medical Alliance playground completion date January 11, 2018 • Parks is working with the Disc Golf Association to upgrade the Lucy Park course. We are adding 4 new baskets and removing 4. • Prairie dog project at Kiwanis Park is coming along. A new containment being built with donation money form Kiwanis Club. • Trail from Sunset to Lucy will be closed for 2 weeks, taking out small bridge and replacing it with a walk way. C. CIRCLE TRAIL: • Construction on trail is moving along fast • TXDOT gave City of Wichita matching grant money for the hike/bike trail along Lake Wichita to Larry's Marine. 4. PARK IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE: • Rainbow trout was put South Weeks pond for fishing. • Over 1, 000 rainbow trout will be put into Plum Lake for the Kids Fishing Rodeo on March 3, 2018. • Lake Wichita Revitalization Committee working with City on projects for the recreational areas around lake. • Public Infrastructure for Bond Election Proposition review S. PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE FOR BOND ELECTION PROPOSITION REVIEW • Jim Dockery Deputy City Manager reviewed the first 6 original proposal for the city's bond election tentatively set for May 2018. 6.
