RESOLUTION NO. _122-2011__
Resolution Supporting The Metropolitan Planning Process For
Communities With Populations Under 200,000
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) was
created by Federal legislation in 1975 and,
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls MPO serves the communities of Wichita Falls,
Lakeside City and Pleasant Valley and,
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls MPO has been a vital part of transportation
planning and project implementation for citizens in North Texas and Southern
Oklahoma and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls desires to continue its Metropolitan
Planning Organization functions to benefit its local citizens in matters involving
transportation issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The Wichita Falls City Council supports the continued efforts of the Wichita Falls
Metropolitan Planning Organization and requests that the Federal government continue
to fund MPOs that serve communities with populations under 200,000 people.
