Ordinance canvassing the returns of the Special Runoff Election held
in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas on December 9, 2017
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls ha s heretofore called for
a General Election (“the election”) which was in said City on November 7, 2017, to elect
a Councilor at Large, Councilor District 1, and Councilor District 2; and,
WHEREAS, no candidate in the At-Large race received a majority of the votes
and the City Council of the City of Wi chita Falls called for a special runoff election to be
held in said City on December 9, 2017 for the At-Large position; and,
WHEREAS, election officers who held the election have duly made the returns
of the results thereof, and said returns have been du ly delivered to the Canvassing
Authority; and,
WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which
this ordinance was passed was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place
and purpose of this meeting was given, all as required by the Texas Government Code;
and,
WHEREAS, after canvassing the official returns of the election, it was found to
be duly and legally held in all respects, and that _2,343_ voters voted in the election,
and that votes were cast as follows:
COUNCILOR AT LARGE:
Bobby Whiteley received _1,594_ votes
Penny Miller received _737 _ votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The election was in all respects legally held in ac cordance with the laws of the
State of Texas and the Charter and the Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls.
The City Council officially finds, determines and declares the results of the
election to be that:
_Bobby Whiteley___ was duly and legally elected Councilor At-Large;
PASSED AND APPROVED this 19th day of December, 2017.
