RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH FREESE AND NICHOLS, INC. FOR CONSULTANT
SERVICES TO PREPARE A DEFENSE DIVERSIFICATION PLAN;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City has been notified of employment reduction at Sheppard Air
Force Base by federal government through the Base Realignment And Closure action;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council is interested in diversifying the economic base of
the community and has received funding through the Office of Economic Adjustment of
the U. S. Dept. of Defense for such planning purposes; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an
agreement with the firm of Freese and Nichols, Inc. in an amount not to exceed
$222,222 for the preparation of a Defense Diversification Plan. Such authoriza#ion shall
be dependent on the development of a satisfactory agreement as determined by the
Mayor, City Manager, and the City Attorney.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
