RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE
NOTICE TO THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
TO PROCEED WITH CONSTRUCTION OF AN ADULT SIZED
GYMNASIUM AT THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON LAND
CURRENTLY IN SCOTLAND PARK, IF CERTAIN CONDITIONS ARE
MET; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH
THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City and the Wichita Falls Independent School District have
been pursuing the concept of a joint use gymnasium at the new elementary school to
be located on land currently in Scotland Park; and
WHEREAS, construction bids for the new school and gymnasium will be opened
by the WFISD on June 20, 2007; and
WHEREAS, in order not to delay this project, the WFISD desires that the City
notify them if the City desires to proceed with the project by June 26, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the next regular meeting of the City Council is not until July 3, 2007.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to provide a notice to the
Wichita Falls Independent School District to proceed with construction of an adult sized
gymnasium in land currently in Scotland Park if the bid amount for the City's share of
the construction cost does not exceed $715,000.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
