RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE WICHITA COUNTY APPRAISAL
DISTRICT TO REAPPRAISE PROPERTY DAMAGED IN THE FLOOD
DISASTER; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, Section 23.02 of the Texas Property Tax Code allows a governing
body of a taxing unit that is located in an area declared to be a natural disaster area by
the Governor to authorize the reappraisal of all property damaged in the disaster at its
market value immediately after the disaster; and
WHEREAS, the city's recent flooding disaster qualifies for such a reappraisal
process; and
WHEREAS, this action will not have a significant financial impact to the City, but
will provide some property tax relief to the victims of the flood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the Wichita County Appraisal
District to reappraise all property within the city limits that was adversely affected by the
recent flooding disaster and to make adjustments to the tax rolls as authorized in
Section 23.02 of the Texas Property Tax Code.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
